Safety instructions and technical specifications
This document provides a comprehensive overview of the essential safety instructions and the detailed technical specifications of the product. Adhering to these guidelines is crucial to ensure safe use and maintain the optimal performance of the equipment.
Safety, Warnings, and Precautions
Read all warnings and precautions in this manual carefully. These are intended to ensure safety, prevent injury, and avoid situations that could lead to damage to the device.
The Qwiek.up has no Essential Performance the loss or degradation of which leads to an unacceptable risk. Safe operation is guaranteed by correctly following the instructions in this manual.
⚠️ WARNING
- Electrical Shock Risk: To avoid the risk of electric shock, this device must only be connected to a supply mains with protective earth (a grounded outlet).
- Epilepsy Warning: Consult a physician or therapist before using this device with individuals who have (photosensitive) epilepsy, or if you are unsure about the suitability of this product for the situation. Rapid image and light changes can trigger an epileptic seizure.
- Immediate Cessation: Stop use immediately if the client feels uncomfortable or shows signs of extreme restlessness, panic, or agitation. Use the stop button on the touchscreen for this purpose. In an extreme emergency (where rapid, complete power interruption is necessary), pull the plug from the wall outlet.
- Supervision Required: Always use the device for clients with cognitive impairments under the direct or indirect supervision of a healthcare professional.
- Bright Light Source: The Qwiek.up contains a very bright light source. To prevent (permanent) eye damage, never look directly into the projector lens and prevent clients (such as bedridden clients without a blink reflex) from looking directly into the light beam.
- Moving the Device: Never move the Qwiek.up while it is tilted. Always return the top part completely to its vertical, upright base position before moving the device to prevent it from becoming unstable and tipping over.
- Physical Pressure & Hinge Safety: Never sit or lean heavily on the (tilted) section. Additionally, keep your fingers away from the hinge during tilting.
- Unplugging Safely: Always unplug the device from the wall outlet before moving it. Pull on the plug itself, not on the cord. Forcefully unplugging it by wheeling the device away can lead to internal damage and life-threatening exposed wiring.
- Tripping Hazard: Lay down the power cable safely during use to avoid a tripping hazard for staff and wandering clients in a darkened room.
- Ventilation & Overheating: Never cover the device or the ventilation openings with blankets, clothing, or towels during use. Always place the device at least 0.5 meters away from walls and closed curtains so that heat can dissipate safely.
- Liquid Avoidance: Avoid contact with water or other liquids. Only use the device in dry spaces. Ensure that no liquid enters the lens or focus opening, as this can lead to irreparable internal damage.
- Medical Equipment Proximity: Do not use the device in the vicinity of life-saving equipment (such as in an ICU or High Care unit), unless the wireless connections (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) are completely deactivated via 'Airplane Mode' in the menu.
- Interference: Do not use the Qwiek.up in rooms with strong magnetic fields or high-frequency radiation, such as near MRI scanners or active surgical equipment. This can lead to device malfunctions or unsafe situations.
- Damage Inspection: Check the device and the power cable for physical damage before each use. Stop use immediately if there is a defect in the housing or if the cable is damaged (e.g., if copper wire is visible).
⚠️ CAUTION
- Intended Use: Use the device exclusively for its intended purpose and only use original accessories supplied by Qwiek.
- Hygiene & Disinfection: The touchscreen is operated by multiple people. Disinfect the screen and the housing before the Qwiek.up is moved to another client's room.
- Terrain Restrictions: Only wheel the device across flat indoor floors. Do not move it over rough outdoor terrain (such as brick paving) to prevent permanent damage to the internal projector lens or electronics.
- Power Supply: Exclusively use the supplied power cable and verify that the mains voltage from the wall outlet matches the specifications on the Qwiek.up rating plate.
- No Self-Repairs: Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself, as dangerous high voltage is present internally. Doing so will void the warranty. In case of a defect, abnormal heat, or a strange odor, contact the supplier immediately.
